From finding to verification.
A fictional example of the working record a scoped review can produce. This is a teaching example, not a client engagement, live test or promised result.
Observation
In a fictional team walkthrough, nobody can name who independently verifies an urgent request to change payment instructions. The request-handling procedure has no assigned backup approver.
What the evidence supports
There is an unanswered ownership question. It does not establish that an account is compromised or that fraud has occurred. The reviewer records the walkthrough date, participants’ roles and the missing decision.
Agreed improvement
The agency owner assigns a primary and backup approver and records a trusted callback route. The team adds the approval requirement to its existing request procedure. No production account settings are changed in this example.
Verification
In a fictional tabletop, a staff member receives a simulated urgent request, finds the approved contact and identifies the backup approver. Record whether the expected steps were completed and any remaining gaps. Do not count a rehearsal as proof that all future attacks will be prevented.
Handoff
The agency owns the procedure, the provider owns any separately agreed account work, and a review date is assigned. The record preserves the original observation, agreed action and actual verification evidence.
